Highlight of the day: Arriving at the spectacular Rainbow Mountain and enjoying the amazing panoramic view of the surrounding landscape.
Explore to the Mountain of Seven Colors
Your Rainbow Mountain adventure begins early, with pickup from your hotel between 3:30am and 4:00am. We drive 2 hours to Cusipata, where you’ll enjoy a quick breakfast. Then, we continue for 1 more hour to Llacto (4,630m), the starting point of the hike.
From here, you’ll hike about 1,20 hours gradual ascending to reach Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca, 5,036m). Along the way, you may see alpacas, llamas, and differen coloreful peaks. At the top, enjoy time for photos and breathtaking views of the colorful mountain.
After you will have option to hike to the Red Valley, we hike back to the trailhead and drive to Cusipata for lunch. Finally, we return to Cusco, arriving around 4:30pm.
Your full-day Rainbow Mountain Tour begins with an early pickup from your hotel between 3:30am. We travel from Cusco for approximately 1.5 hours to Cusipata, where you will enjoy a breakfast in a local restaurant.
After breakfast, we continue by vehicle for about 1 hour to Llacto (4,630m), the trailhead located near the majestic Ausangate Mountain. From here, you’ll begin a gradual uphill hike of 1,30 hours toward the viewpoint of the Rainbow Mountain that sits at 5,036 meters.
During the hike, you’ll pass through stunning Andean landscapes and encounter local wildlife such as alpacas, llamas, and locals dressed in the traditional clothes. Upon reaching the summit, you’ll have time to rest, take photos, and admire the vibrant natural colors of the mountain. Your guide will also explain the geological formation and cultural significance of the area.
We then continue with a short hike to the Red Valley, a spectacular and less-visited viewpoint that offers unique scenery. After exploring, we return along the same trail to the trailhead, where our private transport awaits.
On the way back, we stop in Cusipata for a well-deserved lunch before returning to Cusco, arriving at your hotel 4.30 pm.
